I started Lightning Electric in 2007, when the economy slowed, but before I tell you about the business we should go back to the beginning. In 1997, when I was only 15, I was introduced to Ben and Robin Cantarutti of Cantarutti Electric. I started helping out around the yard and shop as a “Shop boy.” Working with Ben and Robin gave me an inside look at the day to day operations of an electrical contracting business. Over the next several years they unknowingly mentored me.
At 18, I joined the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) Union Local #551. I graduated from the Union’s Sound and Telecommunication Program in 2004 and went straight on to their Inside Wireman Electrical Program. After 5 years I was turned out as a Journeyman. Working for the union during those years, I gained many opportunities’ to work in high scale electrical and communication infrastructure projects.
When the economy slowed, I found myself being needed more by family and friends. By word of mouth, I was able to build a small personal client base that has continued to grow. This base allowed me to establish a reputation for speedy and creative solutions at a fair price.
